The one plant-food you need when you got an achy body or sore muscles.

The week just started and your body already feels the physical stress of our fast paced world. You normally reach for Advil, Tylenol or put on some rub that helps relieve the aches and pains you feel at the end of the day.

There is a chemical free and effective way to get rid of the aches and pains.

Her name is Turmeric. Sounds familiar, it’s a spice essential in Indian cooking. It’s actually a root that is full of so many benefits. The one I’m highlighting today with this smoothie is its super effective anti-inflammatory benefits.

My love introduced me to drinking turmeric with water after a hard workout when I used to run and train for long distance runs several years ago. I tried it out to see if it actually worked. It was absolutely terrible tasting because he made me eat two spoonfuls of turmeric powder then I washed it down with water.

Even though it tasted like crappy chalk, it worked so well no sore muscles with the hour and the next day. But I’m all about things (even medicine) pleasing my taste bud. So, when I saw a turmeric smoothie (aka golden smoothie) blog post on tourganic blog , I wanted to try it out and see if it would make turmeric powder tastier to consume.

So I used some sweet over wintered carrots and other things I had on had to create a delightful and healing golden smoothie.

Although I don’t work out anymore, being a breastfeeding mom is physically strenuous…cut that being a mom is physically strenuous. Some days my body is just achy at the end of the day.

But now I have a tasty, chemical-free way to make me feel brand new. Here it is:

Golden Smoothie (4 servings or 2 servings for big eaters):

  1. Water (I use about 20 to 25 oz or water )
  2. Frozen bananas (I used two )
  3. Carrots (I used two I grew over winter from my garden)
  4. Sesame seeds (I used one tablespoon)
  5. Flax seed (I used one tablespoon)
  6. Chia Seed (I used one tablespoon)
  7. Coconut milk (I used one cup)
  8. Turmeric (I used one and a half tablespoon)

Blend. Pour. Enjoy.
